Our non-profit
organization provides attorneys and their medical malpractice
clients and families a forum to share their stories with others,
as well as to hold healthcare providers and corporations accountable.
This initiative is designed to encourage people to step forward
with their concerns and prevent other similar incidents or
deaths from happening. Each state will have their own Advocates
for Patient Safety website. All will be linked and be promoted
by the National Organization for Patient Safety (NAPS) umbrella
site.
Format:
Patients
and their
families are the official sponsors. The families and their
attorneys can decide how active a part the family would have.
In some states, families have asked to be on the contact list
through the site and be able to respond to the inquiries-frequently
referring those contacts to their attorneys. In other cases,
e-mails go to a specific e-mail account within the NAPS domain
and are blind forwarded to the attorney's office. Attorneys,
patients and their families also make contributions to the
website content. If a case is active, we encourage attorneys
to review all material including their clients' input.
Elements
of the Initiave:
- News
Conference to launch the initiative.
- Radio and television spots.
- Billboards.
- Database of people concerned about the issue.
- Legislation to hold healthcare accountable.
- News releases updating cases.
- Op-editorials under the attorney's name to all daily newspapers
in the area.
- Television and radio talk shows scheduling.
Opportunities:
Statewide
Sponsor:
A single attorney or a group of attorneys and their
clients will be the host for the entire state website and
can determine which stories or cases are posted.
City/Regional
Sponsor:
If a statewide sponsor has not been determined, attorneys
and their clients can focus on a city or region.
Costs:
Cost varies depending
upon the geographic area and the selected elements. Plans
are tailored to meet the needs of each firm and their clients.
