Although this campaign did
not involve a specific case, it was the law firm's way to
help promote awareness of senior citizen rights. The firm
co-founded an association which advocates rights for senior
citizens in nursing homes and retirement centers. The purpose
of the group was to help educate senior citizens and their
families about residents' rights. The law firm also worked
with the Association of Retired Persons (AARP) to successfully
lobby for the passage of Texas Senate Bill 190, which strengthened
nursing home regulations and imposed stricter penalties for
violations.
