A
man nearly died when he was given a poisonous compound--liquid
glass--instead of the medicine he needed. The lawsuit revealed
Eckerd's had made nearly 50,000 additional medication errors.
This case led to increased pressure on the pharmacy chain
to adopt a zero-tolerance policy on medication errors. The
campaign helped reveal the problems to the public.
